Most students take only two years of a language class instead of four as that's the number of required credits, but the longer a student stays in that language class, the more they are open to opportunities.
All around the world, there are different cultures that speak different languages. When these people move to other places, or countries, they take their languages with them. At Johnson alone, we have many people who speak different languages. Knowing these languages has affected them in different ways. Freshman Japhet Figueroa, who speaks Spanish, says that it has affected him positively.
While some students may see taking electives as nothing more than a requirement, others are able to discover what they are passionate about through these classes, and decide that they are going to continue with these electives, for example theater arts, art, etc, in college.
