Congress Censoring Internet

Have you been to the Google website lately? Or maybe the Wikipedia website? Well when you go to the Google website there is a big black block covering every letter of the Google logo. the only thing showing is the loop to the lowercase “g”. If you hover your mouse over it it will say, “Tell congress: Please don’t censor the web!” If you go to the Wikipedia website and you search something, it will say,

“Imagine a World
Without Free Knowledge

For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open Internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia. Learn more.“.

The reason for the censoring is two new bills called PIPA (Protect IP Act) and SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act). Both of these bills state that Congress will censor the web and impose harmful regulations on American business. Many American internet users have already opposed both bills. Members of congress want to end piracy and couterfeiters the right way by using SOPA and PIPA , which people say are the wrong way.

People are coming up with reasons that SOPA and PIPA should stop because it get rid of jobs, wouldn’t even stop piracy, etc. Things are getting better because of the people’s voice fighting back but that doesn’t mean it’s over.
