Zadel Heads to State

Last week, ISA’s very own Lizzy Zadel made the journey to go and swim at the state championships. She had qualified for multiple freestyle sprinting events, 100 yard freestyle and 50 yard freestyle.

“I’ve been swimming for a little over a decade now, since I was five” said Zadel, now 18 years old. “I’m hoping to swim in college, and right now I’m headed to Rice university, where I will get to swim D1 with their program.”

After multiple days of fierce competition, Lizzy was invited back to finals, and was able to successfully place 12th in the state.

“The people I’ve been able to meet have been a big motivator in swimming, and the community, even though it is kind of small, is very comforting,” said Zadel.

When asked about what she wanted to do after college, Zadel said “I plan to have a career in environmental science”.

Lastly, Zadel wanted to give some advice to future and prospective swimmers. “Enjoy it,” she said, “It has given me so much!”
