The Ads of Superbowl XLV

Do you think Eminem drives a Chrysler? I am sure he doesn’t. This year’s Superbowl, a win for the Packers, let down a lot of commercial viewers looking for a laugh, but still showed emphasis on celebrities. Justin Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne starred in Best Buy: Ozzy vs. Bieber, selling merchandise in the future. Joan Rivers once again boosted domain sales for a total of 466% for GoDaddy.com (courtesy AOLnews), and the kids of Glee drew attention inside Chevy Cruize Sedans.

The most viewed and voted of 2011 included the following, check them out on: “www.crashthesuperbowl.com”

Coca-Cola: Border showed two rivals enjoying ice-cold cokes together.

The heavy hitters this year ended up being a couple of Doritos commercials, but were accompanied by classic Coca-Cola and Pepsi counterparts. Doritos: Healing Chips boasted bringing friends back to life, and Pepsi Max: First Date gave an ironic first date’s impression to the audience; a questioning telepathy for lust or a cold Pepsi.  Both the CarrerBuilder: Chimps advertisement and the E*Trade: Tailor baby commercial get honorable mentions too.

There were also a number of previews to movies that should definitely hit the box office heavily. Several of them are Fast Five, in addition to The Fast and the Furious which stars the original actors Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Transformers 3: Dark Side of the Moon starring Shia Lebeouf, Captain America: The First Avenger starring Chris Evans and also an interesting animated flick, Rango starring Johnny Depp. Check out the trailers at www.teaser-trailer.com/superbowl-trailer-2011.html

Snickers: Roseanne Barr is a logger who needed a snickers.

The Macintosh ‘1984’ paradox commercial remains my favorite of all time, along with several Budweiser flicks and a series of vulger phone skits. Long awaited, the Superbowl had its fair share of funnies but it seems as though the ideas were much more sparse compared with previous years.
