MacArthur tennis placed sixth out of twelve in the Corpus Christi ISD Tennis Tournament on the 9 and 10 of September, triumphing over several area high schools, like King and Moody High School.

“I’m happy they placed sixth,” Coach Stanley said. “We don’t travel a lot, so it was nice to go down to Corpus for the weekend.”

The team had two standouts; Doubles Team Haley Norment, Sophomore, and Paige Barnhart, Junior, who Coach Stanley called MVPS, and Ali Diaz, Junior, who went undefeated in singles.

Haley and Paige went 3-1 in the tournament. The dynamic duo are best friends on and off the court. “I love playing with Haley,” Paige said.

“I liked just being with the team,” Haley said.

Ali Diaz the undefeated was looking ahead. “Tougher teams are coming up. We’re barely starting,” he said.

This Friday, the 16, is the start of the NEISD tournament. The Tennis team also plays Reagan on the 20, and will go back to Corpus in the spring.
