Have A Money Savvy Spring Break Weekend

By Kyra Devine Right now with the economy still on the edge, it may seem like there isn't much to do this spring break if you don't have cash in your pocket. But here are some things to look over that are very affordable: mysanantonio.com

Hemisfair Park will be hosting Luminaria on Sat. March 10 from 7pm-1am. There will be all kinds of art ranging from music, visual media, dance, theatre, and literary compositions.

But if you’re more into an underground type of art, there’s also the Clogged Caps 8 graffiti show which started Thursday, March 8 but continues onto Sunday, March 11. You can enjoy the show for an $8 charge. This exposition was created to help expand the growing art of graffiti and collect donations for Alameda School of Art, Design’s Graffiti Club, and Haven for Hope. The address is 1305 East Houston Street San Antonio, TX 78202, so if you get a chance to go you can help out by bringing a paint can, notebook, marker donation, deodorant, toothpaste, socks, or other donated house wares.

Asking Alexandria (band)

At the White Rabbit music venue, the South Dirty South Festival featuring bands like We Came As Romans, Bless The Fall, Woe Is Me, and  Asking Alexandria will be going on Thurs. March 15 – Fri. March 16. Prices range from $23-$30 and doors open at 3 pm.

Sam's Burger Joint

If you’re interested in finding a hopping swing dancing place then it might be in your interest to visit Sam’s Burger Joint on Monday nights for classes from 7-8pm. If you like it enough, you can stick around with $10 and dance to the live music being played around 8:30 pm!

Witte Museum

Some free places to hit up are the Spanish colonial McNay Art Museum on Thurs. nights, the San Antonio Museum of Art  which is known for its antiquities, on Tues. at 4pm-9pm, and the cultural and natural sciences Witte Museum on Tuesdays 3pm-8pm.

I hope you have an awesome spring break and that you spend it in a money savvy way!
