Basketball seasons draws to a closing with both boys and girls varsity battling for a spot in playoffs.

Varsity girls played the Johnson Jaguars Feb. 7 at Lee. This game determined if the girls would advance to the first round of playoffs where they would face Wagner. The girls fell short 65-45 and will not advance to playoffs.

On the other hand, the varsity boys secured a spot in the post-season. A final coin toss decided that they will play Wagner Feb. 18, the location and time is TBA.

Their past three victories have come by 40+ points each game. They credit there success to their fellow teammate Shawn “The Shark” Hamilton. He has been the boys motivation since injuring himself during warm ups at the Roosevelt game.

“We hustle and play as hard as we can for Shark, he’s been our push to succeed,” Steven Sherrod, 12, said.
