Vanessa’s shelf: The Last Lecture

There are two kinds of people in this world; those who can speak in front of a crowd and those who can’t. Randy Pausch was one of the lucky ones who could speak in front of a crowd in fact it was part of his job. Pausch and Jeffrey Zaslow co wrote one of New York Times best-selling book The Last Lecture, based on Pausch’s last lecture.

Randy was a respected professor at Carnegie Mellon University at Pittsburgh, and a loving father to his three kids and wife. Sadly, Randys life was taken away too soon because of  pancreatic cancer. However, having known he was going to pass, Randy wanted to perform one last lecture for his peers, students, and family.

In reading the book I felt as if I was living the wrong way. Instead of dreaming of a future I should have tried to achieve it. Whenever I need inspiration I pick up Paush’s book.

High schooler should read The Last Lecture  because they are in the time of their lives where they try to find themselves. The book will help them not only find themselves but feel as if they can accomplish anything.

The book is a short read but so worth it. It is so inspiring and really makes you appreciate life itself. After reading his book you can check out his lecture on youtube.
