Horror Movies You HAVE to Watch

The Halloween season is just around the corner, so here are four movies you can watch that will get you in the spirit!

“TALK TO ME” (2023)

Rated: R

Now available to rent or buy on Vudu or Amazon Prime.

Talk to Me follows a group of teenagers that use a demonic hand to contact the dead but when using it goes wrong they have to figure out a way to remove the spirits from them for good.

I watched this movie when it came out in theaters and I personally thought it was terrifying. With it being extremely disturbing and overly horrifying I thought this was one of the scariest movies I’ve seen in years. The cinematography is also awesome in this movie along with the soundtrack. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“THE NUN II” (2023)

Rated: R

In theaters now.

“The Nun II” is the 9th film in the Conjuring Universe and takes place after “The Nun (2018)” and is said to be the darkest chapter in the Conjuring Universe yet.

When I watched this movie, I wasn’t expecting much because the first movie wasn’t that scary and just had a ton of jumpscares but when I sat down and watched the new movie I was genuinely amused the entire time and it had a couple of scenes that really kept me on the edge of my seat. It definitely felt a little more creepy watching this one than the first movie, I feel like Valak (The Nun) didn’t hold back on the violence in this film either, and I am not usually a fan of the jumpscares (because I personally don’t think a horror movie should be trying to make people jump but instead genuinely making people scared with other elements) but the jumpscares got me so good throughout the whole thing and I could not stop hiding my face. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rated: R

Theater release date : October 6, 2023

“The Exorcist: Believer” is about 2 girls that disappear one day and are found 3 days later but begin showing signs of demonic possession. They seek advice and help to perform an exorcism from Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn reprising her role from “The Exorcist” (1973))

I recently sat down and rewatched the original “The Exorcist” from 1973 for the second time in my entire life and I think now that I’ve grown up and matured a bit more I didn’t think it was as scary as it was when I first watched it when I was like 8, but I still thought it was a pretty well done movie for its time and the plot was extremely well thought out. I will for sure be tuning into theaters to watch this when it releases.

Release date : October 27, 2023 in theaters and on streaming same day on Peacock

Rated: PG-13

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” follows a security guard (Mike) who finds a job at the pizzeria that has been closed down for some years. He takes his little sister (Abby) along with him while working the night shift but soon realizes that getting through the night at this restaurant is not going to be an easy task.

As a kid who grew up with the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” games, I am beyond excited to see how this turns out. It’s being made by Blumhouse and has Josh Hutcherson starring alongside Matthew Lillard and just by the look of the trailers it looks like it’s going to be an amazing movie. I would definitely recommend playing at least the first game before going to see this movie just to get the gist of what’s going down but I do think this is going to end up being movie of the year and I am going to be there opening night for sure.
