Pep Rally Pumps It Up

Staff Report –

On Thursday, Sept. 30, there was a Homecoming pep rally to get the campus pumped up for the game against the Johnson Jaguars. All classes participated with great sportsmanship and competitive spirit.

The students participated in an obstacle course, tug-o-war, and a potato sack race, which was won by sophomore Travis Pettit, who literally fell over the finish line.

“I felt ravished to conquer all the upperclassmen and show them what was up,” Pettit said. “I did fall, but I tried to play it off with a victory roll.”

The classes also enjoyed an egg toss, and the juniors were announced as winners of the hall banner contest.

Seniors Danielle Martinez and Shasa Honse were crowned Homecoming King and Queen. Coronation was held in the Cafeteria this year. Photo by Chris Balderas.

Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, Coronation was celebrated, crowning a full court including Shasa Honse as the Homecoming King, and Danielle Martinez as Homecoming Queen.

“It was a great honor and blessing,” Martinez said. “It felt pretty legit.”

The entire court will be presented at halftime at the game Friday at 7 p.m.

Staff writers Brittany Weaver, Samantha Sanburn, Bianca Loera and junior Alyssa Gonzales contributed to this report.
