First Concert Excites Choir UIL Competition

Monday night choir welcomed family, friends, and the student body in their first ever choir performance in the new auditorium.

“It was wonderful,” choir teacher Edie Cooksey said. “It was very nice to perform in such a fantastic building.”

The performance Monday night had some minor technical difficulties, but the choir performers managed to overcome and continue the show.

“The show must go on,” senior Faith Martin said. “Either it gets fixed or it doesn’t.”

All choir groups performed Monday night including the Madison Avenue. Each group performed at least three songs with no major faults.

“Everyone did really good,” senior Alexandra Smith said. “I was impressed by the entire concert.”

After Monday night’s performance, choir students and teachers got a preview of what is to come at next week’s UIL competition.

“[The concert] shows us how prepared we are,” senior Shea Rangel said. “We still have a week to get everything perfect.”

Choir has a two-day UIL competition starting Tuesday April 12 at Johnson High School.
