Powder Puff Girls Ready to Rumble

By Lorenzo Cisneros

Once a year, the junior and senior Lady Mavs get to do something that is out of the ordinary for them: play football in the annual Powder Puff game.

The game will be held today on the football field at 5 p.m. The charge is $1 and it all goes to charity.

“It’s going to be a good game and it’s going towards a good cause,” sponsor Julie Masters said. “The juniors won last year and the two years before that but I still believe it could go either way.”

The juniors and seniors have both been getting prepared for it for the past couple of weeks with practicing at least three times a week. The class of 2011 is confident they will win this year because they pulled through the win last year.

“The seniors are going to wreck this year just like the class of 2011 players did last year,” senior Jamee Bell said. “The seniors will have their last recognition as players and coaches.”

The seniors may think they have what it takes to win the game, but the juniors are thinking otherwise.

“I think it’s going to be a pretty even score,” junior Charlene Ferrill said. ” Us juniors are going to do good. Watch out seniors.”

Although there are mixed emotions for this game, it is sure to be a good,  intense game.

“This game is going to be a challenge. A big fight,” senior Brandee Stanzione said. “It will be a game to go in the record books.”
