After winning all their pre-district games, the varsity volleyball team lost their spirited match against Johnson Sept. 13, and are set to take on Roosevelt this evening for their second district match.

“We are trying really hard to make the playoffs, and all six seniors [want to] make this year count,” varsity volleyball player Alyssa Duenas said.

They built a lot of their confidence at their match on Tuesday, Sept. 6, against Boerne Champion which was a complete sweep. Madison won all three games. The first round appeared to be a close game in the beginning. The first two matches were tight and for every point, Madison made the Champions counter. Madison was never more than five points ahead. However once the third match started the girls came out pumped and ready to take home a victory. #3 Victoria Galbraith spiked the ball over for a final winning score of 25 – 16.

“Tuesday’s game against Boerne Champion was amazing. We played outstanding defense as well as offense. It was a great match to have right before district,” varsity volleyball team coach, Shannon Wolfe said.

The girls take on the Roosevelt Roughriders tonight at 8 p.m. at Littleton Gym, Blossom Athletic Center.
