Cross Country Keeps on Running

Being in cross country comes with sacrifice – losing sleep, running in the mornings, and pouring every ounce of effort into using agility, force, and muscle to win.

“You definitely spend every day with each other,” senior Hailey Garcia said.

They’ve trained through blood, sweat, and tears, even encouraging each other with the family-type bonding that’s developed from being involved in cross country. Not only does varsity train together as a team, but they train with junior varsity as well, preparing them for every meet.

“All of the teams [for cross country] train together, and they’re always around each other,” Kayla Cross, head cross country coach said.

The next meet is on Saturday, Sept. 24, at SA State School. Their district meet is on Oct. 29 at Roan Forrest.

“We’re doing just fine,” junior Blayne Hisquierdo said, “We’re just preparing for district.”
