Choir Concert To Feature Region Music

By Raquel Bevien-Cervantes

Madison High School’s choir is having a concert on Oct. 18. Everyone is invited to watch the choir sing in the auditorium of Madison at 7 p.m.

“The reason for this concert is for the students to share to their parents of all what they’re doing this past nine weeks,” choir director Edie Cooksey said. “The concert is similar to a nine weeks test.”

The songs the choir will perform at the concert are competition music the students had learned to try out for the Region Choir on Oct. 1. The Region Choir is made up of the best singers in San Antonio and the surrounding counties. Ten students from Madison have been accepted including Galen McAllister, Andrew Sanchez, Garret Henry, Josh Stines, Lizette Dominguez, Sara Billingsley, Kelsey Hare, Jessica Guillory, Caitlon Scharf and Jordan Sanchez.

“I really like the music a lot,” Kiera Bierschwale, choir student, said. “It’s actually quite easy to sing.”

The choir members have been practicing since the beginning of the school year and have nothing to be nervous about. The students are eagerly waiting to show everybody what they’ve learned.

“I definitely think our choir is ready for the concert,” Varsity and Show Choir member Jordan Green said. “We practice hard every day and make sure that everyone is on the same page.”
