Girls Basketball Hopes for a Playoff Run

By Richard Hernandez

As the Varsity girls basketball team prepares for their next game tonight against Lee they keep their goal in mind.

“One of our goals is to make playoffs,” head coach Tracy Hastings said. “Our main focus right now is to just get a playoff spot.”

The girls are coming fresh off a 34-53 loss against Reagan, and 34-53 loss against Churchill, leaving their record in district at 3-3.

“I think we can make playoffs as long as we continue to take it one game at a time,” junior Brianna Alcibar said.

With six games, all of which are district games, remaining in the season, the girls realize that their goal of making playoffs isn’t so far.

“The team has played pretty good, they’re going to go far,” senior Sonja Haga said. “We’ve progressed and it shows.”

The teams next step to playoffs will be a game tonight against Lee at 5 p.m. at Littleton gym, but the girls still realize what they need to improve on as a team.

“We just need to come together, finish teams, and play hard throughout the whole game,” Alcibar added.
