On Jan. 28-29 the spirit groups participated in One Singular Sensation, a show where all NEISD schools show off their dance and cheer skills. Each of the dance and cheer teams gets to perform one of their competition pieces: the Varsity and JV Cheerleaders performed their UCA National Competition routine, the First Ladies performed their “Fire” Pom routine, the Fillies performed their “Harry Potter” Pom, the Dollies performed their “Horse Jockey” High Kick routine.

“The routine was high energy and packed with difficult skills. The girls performed with lots of enthusiasm,” dance director Shelly Flynn said.

This is the only time in the year where all the spirit groups get to show the other schools what they can do in a non-competitive setting.

“It’s really great to have them all cheer us on,” junior Dollie Lillian Byas said.

Next week the cheer team  heads to the National Cheerleading Competition in Orlando, Fla. at Walt Disney World.

“It’s different every year. We just try to do better than the year before,” junior Varsity cheerleader Shannon Murphy said.
