‘Lucky’ Enough for Silver Screen

Nicholas Sparks has written book after book and has had a countless number of them made into lovey-dovey chick flicks starring Channing Tatum, Liam Hemsworth, and Kevin Costner. But now, it’s Zac Efron’s turn.

On April 20, “The Lucky One” will hit theaters everywhere, and, like most books-gone-movie, it’s expected to be a hit.

“The Lucky One” is about Logan Thibault, a military man, who finds a woman’s picture while on base. His friend is convinced it’s Logan’s good luck charm and for a reason he’s not sure of himself, he begins carrying the picture in combat with him and in the end, it saves his life several times. When he goes back home, instead of settling down like most war vets, he decides to go on a walk half way across the country to find the woman in the picture. Then, just like every Sparks book, he meets her, falls accidentally in love,  something just oh-so tragic happens, but in the end it all works out and they live happily ever after.

It’s a typical Sparks storyline but it looks like the movie will be changing a few things. In the book, Thibault (Zac Efron) goes running around the military base he’s stationed on and finds the picture, but in the previews, he finds it in the middle of combat. In the book, his secret is discovered by local cop, Keith Clayton (Jay R. Ferguson), but in the previews, it looks like he comes clean. How the rest of the movie will play out, there really are no hints, you’ll just have to drive to the theater and see it for yourself.

“The Lucky One” is rated PG-13 for sexuality and violence.
