After an embarrassing kickoff that resulted in a fumble for the seniors, the Powderpuff game was off to a running start. The game contained a lot of interesting components that no one could have predicted, such as the trombone section of the Maverick band showing up for some cued theme music.

The juniors and senior girls have participated in this friendly rivalry football game every spring for years. On April 5, the tradition kept marching on when the game began at 5:30.
The girls sign up for their respective grade teams and then begin their month-long training schedule with the varsity football players. The football players teach them the rules of the game and how to play.
“The best part of working with the football players was just joking around with them and playing and practicing with them,” senior Caitlin Cobb said.
For many football players, this game is something they look forward to in the spring. Once football season is over, the still want to enjoy the game. By “coaching” the junior and senior girls, they still get the football fun, no matter who wins. This year, the game ended in a school of 21-14, with the juniors taking the winning ball.
“I’m not necessarily disappointed, I mean, I do wish we could’ve won but I’m proud of our seniors girls for fighting back,” senior Varsity player Johnathan Dokes said.
No matter who wins or loses, this friendly rivalry will be around for a long time.
“The competition is friendly, until we step on the field,” Cobb said with a smirk.
