On April 9, after school, the band hall was overflowing with nervous energy, as dancers practiced and awaited their turn to try out for Dollies. The closed tryout is, for many dancers, their dream since they entered high school.

“It’s really nerve-wracking but it’s all worth it in the end,” junior, Victoria King-Schultze said.

Each candidate is assigned a number and tries out with two other girls. They tried out in groups of three in front of three non-partial judges.

“Mrs. Flynn is the Dollie coach and she works very hard with them on technique and precision,” spirit director Mary Ann Barrow said.

The routine consisted of high kick, jazz, precision, and execution. After the tryouts were over, they posted the numbers who made the team.  On April 20, open Dollie officer tryouts will take place in the gym and seven returning Dollies will be trying out.

“It’s a great experience and I can’t wait to see what the new team looks like for next year,” junior Anysia Gonzales said.

2012-2013 Dollies will be honored with sashes after the Spring Show May 18.
