Mascot Mystery

Charging the field, jumping around, and cheering with joy the mascot brings energy to any sports event.

Ever wonder who they are? The people behind the mask, the ones who jump around the sidelines and fill the crowd with unimaginable spirit. The reason for all the screams when the play is not going on at that specific time. Making you feel the joy in your soul from just having you throw up your hands, or yell specific letters out at the top of your lungs.

The tradition behind the mascot no one is supposed to know who the mascot truly is not one person besides the person who selected him/her to be the mascot. If you ever do find out about the secret person behind the mask you are forced to swear to never tell who it is or at least that is how the tradition is told.

Furthermore, how do people all over the world know of this big tradition?  If tradition states that people must keep it a secret.

Moreover, today many disregard this tradition. Doesn’t it bother you? The whole myth of the mascot, the true identity behind your true school spirit, being known by everyone on campus because people choose not to care to keep the sacred tradition going. Either student campuses everywhere need some better school spirit or more people who can keep a secret.

Traditions are not taken as seriously as they used to back then. It almost takes the fun out of the mascot tradition. On the other hand, some mascots are an actual animal instead of a person inside an animal costume. This, for instance is different, more unusual.

How is an animal supposed to give off as much school spirit as a human being? Is it possible?

These days a person becomes popular if they mascot at their school campus.  As far as the future stands, it will gradually get worse, more people will know about the mascot without even having to ask, it will be a big thing where everyone will know who the mascot is. No more secrets, no more traditions, just a mascot running on a field, and everyone knowing who it is, no more mystery, just school spirit.

Taking the mask off after a long game, constant sweat pouring down the side of their face, cheeks as red as the ripest of plums, “tonight was a good night, can’t wait till next friday”.
