Sinisterly Brilliant

By Skyler Molina

Sinisterly brilliant, Sinister lets the audience know who’s boss. Less scary then expected, but scary enough to not let you sleep. Sinister brings a whole new idea book to the world of suspense, a new meaning to the word “creepy”.

How far would curiosity take you? Sinister is starring Ethan Hawke as  Ellison Oswalt, accompanied by the marvelous Juliet Rylance who is playing Tracy Oswalt. Moving in to a new house is always a challenge, writing a new book about a crime scene that happened in your new house is even harder. The evidence you must find, the facts you must present, the inside details that nobody knows, its all so intriguing. Elilison is caught up in all of his curiosity when he discovers a box in the attic which contains 5 “8 MM” tapes containing family films from different time periods of different families, or better said, a box full of clues.

He goes on to discover that these tapes have much more than he wanted from them. Bringing terror into his life more and more each night, it becomes unbearable to handle all of the suspense and creepiness that is going on each night. At the same time, the clues keep building and building up, more things become dissevered, the intensity rises, and you will enjoy the ride along the way.

Acting wise the movie is brilliant. Wise camera angles do very well  throughout this film. In addition, the orginial plot definites this more as a must see. Especially, for those of you who enjoy original scary movies.

Overall, scary movies bring the worst out of people, but we enjoy them for the thrill.

And a thrill we will have.
