New Faces: Herrera

By Danielle Cramberg

Mr. Herrera, another of the new administrators, has been working in education for 17 years. He worked at Kennedy High School for the last 15 years, both as a government teacher and as a coach for football, soccer, and basketball.

He hopes to raise awareness at Madison about the UIL programs available, not just sports. “I don’t think kids realize how much more they can get involved in besides sports,” Herrera said.

He has great values when it comes to being an administrator. “We want to create and keep a positive culture, where kids feel safe and want to be educated,” he explains.

When asked what he liked about Madison, his answer came easily. “The diversity of the students and activities offered,” Herrera said. “I believe it gives all of the students the opportunity to thrive in something they’re good at or something they like.”

Herrera truly hopes to make a difference here, his sincere personality only reinforcing that.
