New Faces: Palma Scott

By Fryda DeAlva

Our new face of the week is our newest assistant principle, Palma Scott, who immediately made it clear that she is a believer of  stern education and rule because in the end there are always rules. However, she has a sweet heart and a listening ear like no other along with loads Maverick love.

“It has been friendly, fun, exciting. I have to ask what took me so long to get to high school” Scott says with admiration for the Madison campus, after 30 years of being part of the educational system.

Although Scott has barely arrived onto our campus this school year, she has nothing but positive things to say about the students.

“Students are polite and cooperative, there are all kinds of people, they’re a great mix. This is the place to be,” Scott said. “I was welcomed to the campus by every single person on the staff, which stood out to me. I feel privileged and honored to be part of this staff.”

Aside from the kindness shown to her, she confidently talks about her views on what will become of the kids here.

“So much talent flows through this school,” Scott said. “We will hear in the future about Madison kids being rewarded, and we’re looking forward to it. Students: Really and truly strive for whatever it is you want to do, my job is to guide or act as a resource to anyone that needs my help. I want to help them grow, learn, and teach for themselves. I’m impressed with the conversations I hear that students hold, they have great things planned!”

Another thing that stood out to Scott is the amount of Madison pride around campus.

“Madison pride? BOY, when we have our orange out days I’ve never been to a school where everyone is just so full of school spirit and it’s awesome to see so much pride in the hallway,” Scott said.
