The Effects Of Standardized Testing

By Ethan Martinez

Everyday, students attend school to set futures for themselves and gain important knowledge for the long and winding road called life. After the many months of hard work and determination, the time of standardize testing arrives before the person knows it. This test shows what the student learned throughout the year and determines if the student continues to the next grade. With the test given out each year, some stop to think, do these tests really help anyone?

Testing in general demonstrates the students’ knowledge and understanding of the subject at hand and teaches students the value of hitting the books. Over all, testing concedes to be a good thing, but a key push factor about the standardized test concludes that all education based learning programs focus mainly on the test itself, taking away the teacher’s anatomy, and personal teachings as well.

The down sides over rule the positive and solutions run slim. The only logical conclusion leads to abandon the idea of testing entirely. A vast variety of options range from teachers giving their own exams to final projects instead. All in all, testing affects all aspects of learning and takes away the special touch of teachers and their knowledge.
