The AIDS Foundation has many events to help fund AIDS research.

AIDS is a massively dangerous disease that kills roughly 8,200 people per-day. Doctors and scientists are working daily to find a cure but so far the answers have eluded them. Roosevelt’s own NHS (National Honor Society) has taken part in doing something about it.
“The AIDS walk {which NHS went to] is to promote awarness of AIDS and to help find a medical treatment,” Kristina Moser, NHS sponsor, said.
NHS has participated at this event for multiple years and has no plans to stop. The AIDS walk is an event that many students enjoy participating in and it shows that students at Roosevelt are here to support our community. With all of the help that NHS gives at these events it is no surprise that they are invited back every year to do it again.
“At the AIDS walk we helped with set up and registration, t-shirts, and handed walkers water,” Moser said.
NHS is a national organization students at many schools whose members volunteer around the community to help out at such events as this walk.
“As a group, we really like to do community service,” Moser said.
The students and Moser feel that the AIDS walk was a huge success, and look forward to the other events they will be assisting with throughout the year.
“It went really well and lots of people showed up, with a lot of different organizations,” Moser said. “We will definitely go again next year.”
