The spicy aroma of simmering chili rushes through the air. Crowds mull around at each station picking the best of the best. Soon the winner will be crowned and everyone can enjoy the rest of the festivities.

DATA’s 3rd annual chili cook off will be held in the cafeteria on Feb. 22nd from 5 to 8 PM. All DATA students and incoming DATA students are invited to join us at the cook off.

“The cook off is a chili cooking contest, everyone gets to et chili and everyone judges. There’s a silent auction and it is just loads of fun,” Sandy Nagel, DATA secretary, said.

The cook off will be a great social event to get to know any DATA students that you don’t know and many of the incoming freshmen that you will have to work with in the coming years.

“We are expecting a lot of students and a lot of newly chosen DATA  students. It will be a great opportunity to meet the new freshmen,” Stacia FitzSimon, DATA director, said.

Along with be able to meet many of your fellow students the cook off is a fundraiser for the magnet program. The money raised in the cook off and silent auction will help purchase the necessities needed for the magnet program.

“This is such a big fundraiser. It helps us so much over the year,” FitzSimon, said.

Helping the magnet and meeting new students not enough? Then you should come for the fun.

“It is so much fun. We have about 10 to 13 people cooking the chili and it is always so good. It is a blast for the whole family,” Sue Johnston, DATA counselor, said.

So come for the good times, the new people and the ability to help the program. You are sure to not regret it later.
