Erika Melero is an English III teacher who earned a B.A. English Language Arts from St. Mary’s University.

She received her inspiration from her teachers when she was at university.

“I wanted to give back and help and inspire students the way my teachers inspired me,”  Melero said. “I enjoy helping students a lot. My goal is for students to grow, not just as writers and communicators, but as human beings.”

Melero has taught English for 11 years at Theodore Roosevelt High School. She teaches AP English III during sixth and seventh period, Regular English III during first, third, and fifth period, and English sL during fourth period. She has a conference during second period.

“Ms. Melero is a pretty fun and laid-back teacher, and she teaches very good,” junior Anthony Cerpas said.

Ms. Melero’s tutoring schedule is Monday from 4:15-4:45 PM, Thursday from 8:00-8:30 AM, and the other times are by appointment.

At September’s faculty meeting, Melero won the “superhero teacher” award from teammate Mary Quintanilla for her service to others on her team.

“My superhero is someone who is everything you want in a co-worker,” Quintanilla said. “She is kind, respectful, and fun.  She is always willing to share her knowledge, her strategies, and her lessons for the greater good of all students at Roosevelt, not just the students in her class.  She is an amazing teacher who is thoughtful about her lessons, her assignments, and feedback.  She is simply amazing.”
