The end of the Star Wars Skywalker saga has finally hit theaters. The saga has been going on for 43 years and Star Wars fans have loved every bit of the journey. The journey consisted of cheering for the Rebellion, witnessing jaw-dropping lightsaber duels, weeping for the death of heroes, and even venturing deeper into the story of the most widely known villain in the Star Wars universe, Darth Vader. It’s all led up to the final battle of light and dark.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” officially debuted on Dec. 20, 2019 — a day that was marked on calendars all across the globe.

Director JJ Abrams is responsible for directing the epic Star Wars conclusion. He has also directed previous Star Wars such as “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” He is known for his work in genres such as action, drama, and science fiction. More films he has directed are “Regarding Henry,” “Forever Young,” and “Star Trek.”

This latest Star Wars movie is the last installment of this sequel trilogy. There are two other Star Wars trilogies. The first one is referred to as “the originals,” which started in 1977, and then the “the prequels” were made starting in 1999. All 3 of these trilogies follow the same story as they go along. Some actors from the original trilogy have come back to for “The Rise of Skywalker” to reprise their prominent roles. Actors such as Mark Hamill who plays Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, and Ian MicDiarmid as Sheev Palpatine from the prequels. This new sequel trilogy, including “The Rise of Skywalker,” introduced a few new characters along with other new supporting characters from the Star Wars universe, but four characters make up the core of the cast. Daisy Ridley stars as Rey in the film. John Boyega plays Finn, Oscar Isaac plays Poe Dameron, and Adam Driver plays Kylo Ren.

Daisy Ridley has starred in other movies such as “Silent Witness” and “Mr. Selfridge.” John Boyega has “Pacific Rim: Uprising” and “Attack The Block” as a part of his career. Oscar Isaac took part in “Triple Frontier” and “Ex Machina.” Adam Driver played a character in “The Report” and “Marriage Story.”

When it is known that Emperor Palpatine (Ian MicDiarmid) did not meet his end at the end of “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,” the Resistance including Rey, Poe and Finn, seek his whereabouts to put and end to whatever he is planning once and for all. Kylo Ren, however, still continues to be strong in the dark side of the force, and poses as a roadblock for the Resistance as well. His quest to be as strong as Darth Vader is nearing its end, and Emperor Palpatine holds the key to all the power of the world. The final fight between the light side and dark side of the force will determine the fate of the rest of the galaxy.

As a big Star Wars fan, I recommend this movie to others who desire an adventure and a rollercoaster of events. To understand truly what is going on, the whole Star Wars saga must be watched. Other than that, I was greatly entertained and satisfied.

Rise of Skywalker is still in local theaters, including the Galaxy, the Quarry and Live Oak.
