Band Marches to Their Own Drum

The Marching Band Festival is an annual event were high school marching bands across the Northeast Independent School District come together to perform. This event gives families and friends the opportunity to see their child, or friend, perform without having to purchase a ticket. While the majority of the community loves going to football games, and that includes band students, the festival focuses solely on band.

“The best part of band? Easily the football games, but mostly being able to be on the field.” junior euphonium player John Thomas said.

Although football games allow several of Madison’s groups (dance, cheer, and band) to come together and support the Mavericks, events like these let a specific group take the field.

“Although you have to be up at six in the morning exercising, I joined band because I like music. I like performing.” junior french horn player Erica Montano said.

During Tuesday night’s performance the band performed a mixture of composers for the theme Mother Earth.  If you missed the festival you can catch band perform at the Pink Out game Saturday night.
