San Antonio Fiesta history

Fiesta is on its way, but have you ever wondered about its history? Well, San Antonio Fiesta originated as a way to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Fiesta San Antonio started in  1891 as a one event parade, but as the years went on, Fiesta  grew into a celebration of San Antonio’s diverse cultures.In 1891, a group of woman decorated horse drawn carriages and paraded in front of the Alamo and that was where it all started.This year Fiesta starts April 18 and ends on April 28. More than 3 million people take part in it and celebrate with the Battle of the Flowers parade, in honor of the heroes and Alamo.
