What You Don’t Know About Spring

Spring is a time of new beginnings, the season of sunshine and laughter everywhere. Almost everywhere. Something you probably didn’t know about spring is that it is the most hazardous season for birds. In the season of new life, birds are under attack. But why?
Food can be hard to find in the spring because the winter season has nearly depleted all of their resources and new buds from plants and insects are not available yet. Due to the lack of food, birds all throughout the spring season are starving. Birds are also suffering from the weather conditions. With an long lasting winter coming to an end, it takes a while for the spring season to come and thaw out nature. So, when birds come back for spring and the homes are still frozen, they suffer. Besides that, late season storms are also harmful to birds. When early migrants come home, a late winter blizzard or fast freeze can hurt their food supply and their homes. Diseases are a threat to birds in the spring as well. Bird feeders are a welcome source of spring food
