Backpacks and Bags

| September 23, 2010 | 3 Comments
I heave my books and binder around the crowded halls. My scattered classes leave me no time to get to my locker. This isn’t just me, it’s most students in 6 and 7K. All of their classes are out in the portables and the 3 minute passing period doesn’t allow them the time they need to get to their lockers. For iMak and Kmac their classes are usually in the same hallway as their lockers. I stress this for the Ksat-ers because i was there and I know how it feels to carry around tons of books and a binder that weighs 1000 pounds.
The rules say that backpacks and bags that can fit a book are prohibited, but isn’t that what a bag is for? Asking a teacher and they’ll say it is because at some schools students brought hand weapons concealed in a bag. With those occasions, bags have been done away with, and you must store them in your locker at the beginning of each school day. Forcing student’s to walk back and forth from class to locker.
From experience I know KSAT has a lot of work. They need access to their locker or they are forced to carry them around all day, in my opinion a bag or backpack would be a huge help. Knowing that other schools are allowed to carry around clear or mesh bags makes me wonder why that rule hasn’t been added here at Krueger.

As a student there is not much I could do about it , but I can share my opinions. Until any further changes, have fun working on your upper body strength.

Yes, I do think it would be alot easier for us 7k students, Because we have a long way to go to class from the underground lockers all the way outside to the portables. Its a long way for us.

  2. Ms. Hall says:

What do you think the solution is? Would it help to have lockers in the 500 hallway for 7K students?

  3. Mr. Sharpley says:

Good point Jordyn! This is just the kind of thing that the Student Council could tackle and bring it to the attention of the Kreuger Administration Team. Take it to the next step! Good work!
