With their perfect record in district at stake, the Mavs took the field on Friday ready to establish their place in district.

“It’s a district game so it’s our chance to meet our next big goal which is making playoffs,” coach Jim Streety said.

The game was more than just another district game for fans. For fans it was the biggest game of the season; it was homecoming game. The added attention didn’t affect the way the team played as they left the game with a 30-20 win over the Churchill Chargers.

“It was good. We played hard to the end of the game,” senior quarterback Justin Jones said. “We we’re just trying to play the game like every other game by playing to our hardest.”

With the team approaching their fourth game in district, they are forgetting the trouble of the pre-district play and are looking forward to playoffs.

“We should do good,” Jones added. “Ever since district has started district our team has stepped up their game.”

The Mavs are putting their perfect record in district on the line again as they face off against the Reagan Rattlers this Friday Oct.21 at Comalander stadium.

“Our team is working hard and we haven’t had any new injuries in a while,” Streety said. “Our team is starting to come together and our team chemistry is up and it’s a big help.”
