Social media can be dangerous for kids and adults of all ages, but nowadays, you will always find a kid on a phone or device. Adults also spend many hours on their devices and it’s important to be smart and safe while using them.
Most kids have a phone by the age of 14. Children have to get a phone because they have to communicate with their parents and other people, but kids who do have social media tend to use it a lot. Social media has had a big role in teen culture. This means that social media has become a common and daily thing with kids who have at least one social media platform.
So what can you do to stay safe and enjoy using your phones at the same time? Here are some tips that you can use to be more aware of what you’re doing on social media. Of course, there are a lot of great things you can use on your phone like getting answers and or helping you get information that you need to know. But here are some things that you should always keep in mind when on social media. First, you should not always share everything on your mind or want to say, especially online where many people can see.
The next thing is always to be kind and considerate of other people’s opinions because you never know what someone is going through especially when you don’t know them and it’s not right to be rude for no reason and not right and you don’t get anything out of it. So if anyone ever starts something that you don’t want to be a part of you can easily click on the block button and other tools in your settings. We have to be aware that other people have feelings too and you should treat others how you would want to be treated and respect other people’s opinions because you never know you could lose a friend over something dumb online or in text.
Another thing that you can do to protect your privacy is make your account private and or personalize certain things that you want to be private through your settings, so certain people can see what you’re doing. You can feel comfortable when you are online. Lastly, you should watch what you are doing online and see if you are doing the right thing. Before posting something you should think of the consequences and check yourself. Even if you think no one will know just know that someone will always find out somehow so be cautious about what you do. Remember, just make good decisions and enjoy what you do because social media can be a great way to enjoy yourself and interact with others just as long as everyone is doing their part and just enjoying the apps and behaving.
