Volleyball Moves Ahead In Districts

By Bianca Loera

The varsity volleyball team holds a  record of 17-15 and being fifth in the district, the girls need to win the next two games in order to make it the playoffs. With the score 25-20 in the third game, the girls lost a really tough tournament against Reagan High School yesterday. The series will be televised on Oct. 26 on channel 988.

“[I was] really nervous because I’ve never been on TV for volleyball before and we are supposed to have lots of fans tonight,” floor captain Tanisha Johnson said.

Coach Shannon Wolfe is the new head for the Lady Mavs volleyball team. She led her last team to St. Mary’s the past two years, and her team made it to the Sweet 16 three years before that. The team has high expectations for her to do the same at Madison. Though Wolfe is at a new school with a new team, she is handling it very well.

“I love it, it has been everything I’ve dreamed of. I love the ladies and men I work with. The volleyball girls have been just as receptive as their parents,” Wolfe said.

The girls will be playing their next game Oct. 26 against MacArthur at Blossom Athletic Center followed by a next day game against Lee also at Blossom.
