Physics teacher Elizabeth Barlow loves her job.

“Roosevelt is such an amazing and diverse school,” Barlow said. “Every day is a different but always jam packed with new experiences.”

Barlow had been long-term subbing for the class, but recently got named the permanent teacher.

“It wasn’t hard at all to adapt to Mrs. Barlow’s way of teaching when she became our new and official teacher,” junior Dorian Summers said.

Barlow is used to rolling with the punches. Her dad was in the Navy and she went to four different high schools across the country before going to college here in San Antonio.

“My first priority was for his students to not get behind so it was more management mode but as time went on I completely started to get attached to the students so it was like an awesome surprise when I got to stay as the permanent teacher,” Barlow said “I’m so happy to get to continue our school year together.”

Barlow started at Palo Alto Community College and graduated with an Associates in Chemistry. She then moved to UTSA and received a Bachelor’s in Multidisciplinary studies in Science.

Her students say they enjoy her class because she gets right to the point and gives them choices on what they can do.

“I have always felt that teaching was just the perfect job for me. The possibility of making people as exited about science as I am makes my job pretty fun,” Barlow said.  “My students definitely make my job exciting for me each and every day.”
