When you walk into Cynthia Bass’s English classroom, you won’t find music playing, but instead you’ll probably find her making her students laugh.

In three words, Bass describes herself as patient, kind and open-minded.

She considers herself a lifelong learner, havingĀ attended the University of Maryland and earningĀ four degrees: two bachelors, one in English, and one in Asian studies, along with two masters which are in education and in public administration.

Before teaching English here at Roosevelt, she was an Avid coordinator, and taught Journalism along with Newspaper at Judson and was also a UIL Coach.

“I enjoyed teaching Avid because a lot of the students were the first in their family to go to college,” she said.

This year is also her first year teaching at Roosevelt.

“I love teaching at Roosevelt, I love the students, teachers, administrative support and the professional development opportunities we get here,” Bass said.

Outside of teaching, Mrs. Bass enjoys traveling, reading, and loves watching court related TV shows.

“She makes the class interesting, a new experience and she’s a relatable teacher,” said sophomore Steven Wells.
