Superhero Summer Events at the Library

By Angel Sabater |

Throughout the school year many students came to Teen Time and other teen events held in the library. Now that it’s going to be summer vacation, students are invited to summer activities at the library as well.

“We are going to have a summer online book club,” librarian, Rae Downen said. “If interested, you need to come to me to sign up, that way the Director of Instructional Technology is going to work with us to see if this is a viable option to unlock your Google Plus side account with the account you use for school so that you can join in chat with us.”

This is only for students’ accounts, and for safety reasons. “I don’t want to have a stranger on this chat posing as a student, and so that I know who you are officially,” Downen said. “Another is Teen Time super hero themed summer, which means we will have comic book discussions and a lot more library summer programs and crafts. But we’re tying it with the six colors of character, because being a super hero you have to have some good characteristics.”

Superheroes are defined as a superhuman being that can float or hover or have super strength, but there can also be superheroes that are just human like us, like Batman and Robin or even Tony Stark a.k.a. Ironman and Nick Fury. Superheroes don’t need power to save people just the desire to save people and some handy items, but there can also be alien superheroes from otherworldly planets like Thor or human hand made super robot like Big Hero 6. Here are the list of the first few events for Teen Time: Summer Reading:

Teen Time: Summer Reading Kickoff, will be on Tuesday, June 2 after school from 4:20-6:05 p.m., which is going to start with movie, Big Hero 6 (2014) with free popcorn and sodas .
