Homecoming bumps school spirit

Homecoming started off this year with dress up days, with Monday being Ohana day and Tuesday Greasers Vs. Preppies, Wednesday is “battle of the decades: 60s Vs. 70s”, Thursday is Disney Day, and Friday will end with TR pride, dress in your red, white, and blue attire to support the football team

The homecoming game is Sept. 25, at Heroes Stadium against Reagan beginning at 7:30, followed by the homecoming dance on Sept. 26 in the gym.

Shirts and tickets for the dance are being sold in the cafeteria during all lunches $25 for a single ticket, or $40 for two. Monday, the first day of homecoming, tickets will be $15.

This year’s theme will be Ace the Night.

“Some of the students thought homecoming should be fun and still be formal, since prom is just formal, and Ace the Night fits that, we can have fun and you can still dress up,” student council sponsor,  Javier Cavazos said.

Homecoming has quickly approached this school year, being the first district game, keeping students in student council on their toes.

“The new group of students council members are very motivated to make it better than last year,” Cavazos said.

Voting for court will take place on Friday with King and Queen being announced at halftime of the homecoming game. They will also announce Prince and Princesses, Earl and Lady, two counts and Countesses, and three Dukes and Duchesses.

Student council is selling mums and garters this year, with mums selling for $25 and garters are $15. They are also making white mums and garters specifically for seniors, sold for the same prices.
