The year is winding down quickly and seniors have less than 80 school days left until graduation. Many seniors are making plans for and after graduation or counting down the days until they’re done with school.

Senior class sponsor Paul Riser says there are 636 seniors in the graduating class. And as the stage draws closer for this group, some make plans for college, or  a dream job, maybe even the military.

“I want to enlist into the Army and my M.O.S is transportation,” said senior Corbin Drake.

There are many things seniors need to focus on to ensure they’ll graduate on time.

“Students should focus on getting everything done for either the military or college,” counselor Darla Harper said. “All the preparation for post graduation plans takes place now. Visit the college and career center for guidance.”

Teachers and students are all busy getting work done, students are getting their college applications in, FAFSA, taking the ASVAB, or anything else they can to have a better chance of graduating on time and taking that next step.

“I thought senior year was going to be more relaxed, but I was wrong, it’s more work in my AP classes and the entire first semester was hectic applying to colleges,” senior Regina Compean said. “But it’s  fun knowing that my future is so close.”

“Students need to fill out the FAFSA, figure out what type of applications the college has, take the ACT and SAT for better hope of getting into college, take TSI for community college, have a resume of all the school clubs or activities you were in , and your parents fill out their income tax for financial aid, and start looking for scholarships even as freshmen,” said college and career center advisor Mason Walker.
