Trejo placed second place for Ready Writing.

“I would definitely do it again if I wasn’t a senior,” Trejo said. “It did consist of reading and writing to prepare for it but it was worth it and I am going to Regionals so I am really excited and proud.”

Sapp placed second for Computer Science.

“It was definitely a fun experience I really enjoy Computer Science and I would do it again,” Sapp said.  “I went through old tests and coded some stuff to my understanding and it prepared me, and now I will be going to Regionals.”

Junior Juan Villanueva (News Writing) placed fourth but he is the first alternative for region. Freshman Joseph Garza placed fifth in Current Events. Marina Stovall placed fifth in Computer Applications.

“I’ve been studying for months on my computer,” Stovall said. “Although I didn’t make it to regionals, it was very fun being able to participate with the UIL coaches.

Sophomore Claire Tolsma placed fifth in Persuasive Speaking.

“I do wish I got a higher rank but I’m glad I made it to finals. It takes a little bit of confidence but it is a really fun event to be in,” Tolsma said.

Two Academic UIL teams were also recognized as the teams with the second highest score: Computer Science and Spelling and Vocabulary.
