Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is set nineteen years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It is the eighth and assumed final installment of J. K. Rowling’s ever so popular book series. Despite its release over a month ago, on July 31, Potterheads are still raving.

Joanne Rowling, a British author, rose to fame with the young adult series centered around a wizarding world parallel to our own. Born exactly fifty-one years prior to the release of the Cursed Child, Jo shares a birthday with our beloved Harry. She may just be the epitome of the rags-to-riches storyline, using her childhood love of fantasy well into her adult life.

While the original seven books are written in a novel-like fashion, the Cursed Child is presented as if it’s a play. Which, coincidentally, it is. Focusing on the children of the Golden Trio and others, the play displays the ups and downs of growing up in as a young wizard, relatable to Muggles and Wizards alike.

Despite how hard it may be for some people to follow the format of the play, the story is definitely worthy to be joined with arguably one of the most iconic book series in the world.
