Friday night the Rough Rider varsity boys played at Blossom against Stevens. They took home the second win for the season with a score of 27-24. Lots of students, parents and teachers came out to support our school. It was the end to spirit week where many students and teachers were dressed up for the Spirit days.

Monday was the 20s (Gatsby Swag), Tuesday was 50s (Greasers vs. Prep), Wednesday was 60s vs. 70s (Flower Power vs. Disco), Thursday was 80s vs. 90s and Friday was TR Spirit day.

Thursdays pep rally after school was a great turn out, even though the rally was after school lots of students came. At the pep rally band performed, the cheer and dance seniors did their infamous pillow people gig and there were also games.

The week also brought campaigning and voting for Homecoming Court.

Student council was taking votes on Monday for princess and prince and on Wednesday they took votes for queen and king.

The King and Queen were announced during half time after our band’s performance, with the winners being Brooke Finch and Enrique Eulloqui.

“…When initially ran I really didn’t expect to win at all, like I just ran for fun because it’s my senior year and everything. To know that I would actually win it feels pretty great,” Finch said.

Student Council spent 6-7 hours in the gym at school setting up and getting everything ready for the Homecoming dance, they scanned 150 photos from yearbooks from 1966 to the present. Over 200 students attended and danced the night away.

“The turnout was really good,” Javier Cavazos, student council sponsor, said. “This is my third year overseeing the homecoming dance. I’ve heard from several students who are here for the past few years, that this is the best one yet, they had the most fun, so based on student reactions it’s been nothing but positive comments.”
