On January 10, 2023, future Mavericks flooded the Performing Arts Center and Ag Arena, receiving a glimpse of their possible endeavors at JMHS.

These 8th grade students from Wood, Driscoll, and Harris Middle School were warmly greeted by a slew of Maverick Clubs and Organizations. The JMHS Cheer Team, FFA, National Honor Society, Mariachi Band, and Theatre Arts groups all made appearances at the celebratory event- welcoming students to Madison. One devoted high schooler, Camila Miranda, noted the importance of the 8th Grade Introduction as “an opportunity to get kids excited about what Madison has to offer.” A second optimistic Maverick, Miranda Stevens, chimed into the conversation saying, “[The presentation] allows students to find a community at Madison, and it allows Maverick groups to gain coverage and the interest of eager young students.

The James Madison High School Administration also appeared at the informative showcase. Principal Wernli imparted some of his wisdom upon the incoming learners. Mr. Villarreal and Ms. Whitaker flaunted their school spirit and displayed their agility through a choreographed dance. Senior Ella Kirkpatrick, described the Admin’s dance as “a spunky little piece that put a smile on every face.”

The high-energy display of Madison Pride made for a wonderful first look at JMHS for incoming Mavericks. Through a dedicated staff and student body, a lasting impression was made on the James Madison High School Class of 2027.
