Tongue Twisted

Hola, Bonjour, and Guten Tag, these languages came together this thursday for Madison’s Around The World celebration. The Spanish, French, and German Club members and sponsors whipped up some mouthwatering platters such as taquitos, tamales quiche, mousse, crepes and many more.

“There was very different varieties of foods, the thing I liked the most was the pastries like the mousse,” Spanish club officer Britten Burchardt said.

In addition to the students bringing the food, many more teachers and sponsors participated in the serving of the foods.

“I enjoyed pouring the drinks for the students and I felt like I was giving back because you guys give to us, so helping felt good,” German Sponsor Rebecca Smith said.

Although this year did not involve a good game of musical chairs, the Christmas carol singing tradition continued when the French and German clubs sang their versions of Silent Night and Frosty the Snowman. The students seemed to have a great deal of fun meeting new people and sharing laughs.

“The Around the World celebration showed us the various culture clubs we have here at Madison and how different each of them are. It offered a chance for us to get to know one another and make friends,” French club officer Cesar Ballesteros said. “The Christmas carols were awkward at first but once we were twenty seconds in it wasn’t scary,” he added.
