With their first game coming up on Feb. 21 against Brennen at Northside. Roosevelt Rough Riders boys baseball team is working hard to squash their opponents.

While the new season starts soon the players and coaches are already getting ready to squash their opponents.

“I hope for us to work hard as a team and beat teams no expects us to win,” Michael Vazquez, senior, said.

While getting on the baseball team sounds easy it is actually really extensive. Players are fully worked to perfection to be the best.

“They have to perform at a high level. We east them on their arm strength, field positions, and their overall knowledge of baseball to see how well they know the game. They are graded in a way, good, bad, could be better. They all need to be hard workers,” Allan Lynch, baseball coach, said.

Along with working hard the team and coaches have high hopes for this season.

“I think this season could be great. We have a lot of guys that have been on varsity for years but we also have a lot of young guys that need to be trained up some. They just need to compete and play hard,” Lynch, said.

The team is looking forward to a great year of many wins and few loses.

“I am looking forward to working as a team to make the playoffs,” Vazquez, said.
