About a year ago,a former NFL player, Jovan Belcher, shot his girlfriend to death and killed himself afterward. Scientists have recently studied his brain and found evidence of CTE. CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) is a disease that degenerates your brain after having repetitive brain trauma. They think this disease might cause depression and random acts of violence.

There are currently no answers for why the scientists think that this disease has anything to do with suicide other than the fact that mostly all recipients of this disease committed suicide. The other players who killed themselves were not going through depression and were leading rather well lives.

This disease can also be found in other sports such as baseball, basketball, hockey, wrestling and boxing. The main way to contract this disease is from a blow to the head. One blow wont do much but many will. What it does is it loosens abnormal proteins in your head causing them to float around in your brain.

You don’t have to worry if you play carefully in  contact sports. Wearing a helmet usually  helps protect your head unless you are hit really hard.BE CAREFUL!
