Early afternoon Feb. 5, select seniors signed contracts with colleges making a commitment to play sports at their school. The athletes included Shannon Lukehart, Brianna Livecchi, Catherine Sharp, Stephen Baker, James Gessner and Richard Mendez.
Among the athletes was star girls soccer player Brianna Livecchi signing to UT Tyler.
“I’m excited,” Levecchi said. “The coach [at Tyler] played on the professional team, so she knows what she’s doing. I met the girls, they were good. It made me feel like home. I met with 5 other different coaches, but after meeting with [Tyler’s coach], I decided she was the best one to go with.”
Feeling comfortable proves to be a big factor in deciding which schools to sign with.
“It just felt like home,” Steven Baker said about signing with Texas A & M University- Commerce, even though he had several other options among the Texas schools signing.
