The FBLA, or Future Business Leaders of America, students recently returned from a competition in Dallas. They were competing for a spot in the state finals but came up short in the end receiving 5th place .

“We were competing for parliamentary procedure,” Jacob Lambert (10) said. “We basically had to memorize scripts and preform them in front of judges.”

The trip added an early start to the students spring break.

“We left Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. before spring break,” Lambert said. “We arrived back into San Antonio Saturday afternoon. We got back to Mac around 8:00 p.m.”

Besides competing, the trip had other perks.

“The hotel we stayed in was super nice,” Lambert said. “We stayed in the Hyatt Regency in downtown Dallas. The view from the hotel was awesome. We could see the Dallas skyline, the  Texas State Fair grounds and we could see the Dealey Plaza, which is where President Kennedy was shot.”

They also got to do some sight seeing in their down time.

“We got to ride the DART, or Dallas Area Rapid Transit,” Lambert said. It took us all over Dallas to see different things. It was a lot of fun.”

An important part of the trip as well was getting to be around other students who share a common interest.

“We got to hang out with other FBLA members from other schools which was great,” Lambert said.

The trip was a great way to kick off all of the FBLA students spring break and added extra excitement and memories.
